Vivint Gives Back Helps Make a Wish
Vivint Gives Back partnered with Make A Wish Utah last week to grant the wish of a local Utah County girl. Olivia is a 16-year-old with Baraister-Winter Sydrome, a rare syndrome that effects Olivia’s cognitive abilities along with causing up to 40 seizers a day, and her wish was to go to Disneyworld to meet her favorite princesses—especially Belle. As part of granting the wish, Vivint Gives Back wanted to make a special event to let Olivia know her wish was about to come true.
Olivia loves Beauty and the Beast and loves motorcycles, so it was only natural to combine the two into a magical dinner and a ball event. About a week before the ball, a Vivint volunteer dressed up as Ms. Potts to deliver to Olivia a Belle ball gown, shoes, and a special mirror letting her know she was invited to the Be Our Guest ball. When Olivia answered the door she screeched with joy, seeing her beautiful dress and knowing something special was about to happen.
On the night of the ball, a makeup artist arrived to get Olivia ready, and then Belle and three other princesses arrived at Olivia’s doorstep with a rose and a tiara to bring her to the ball. Olivia and her family hopped into a stretch hummer limo escorted by over 65 bikers from Timp Harley and 10 police officers as they made the journey from Elk Ridge to Provo. Once Olivia arrived, she was greeted by her friends, family members, as well as characters from Beauty and the Beast and 16 other princesses from Miss Utah. Olivia then rode around the Riverwoods in a side car, took pictures with characters, and even got a kiss from the Beast!
Once inside, the family was treated to a feast of chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes—Olivia’s favorite foods. There was also a soda bar by Swig and a photo booth. About halfway through the night, Olivia was told by Belle that her wish was going to be granted to go to Disneyworld.
Stacha, who works for the Make a Wish foundation, reflected on the evening and said, “It was a really rewarding experience to be able to create such a unique and special environment for Olivia. It’s something I’ll remember forever!”
