The alarm that saved the Garcias
In honor of Fire Prevention Month, we want to highlight one of our families where Vivint made all the difference. Amanda and David Garcia have six biological children and one foster child ranging in age from 7–20, including two children on the autism spectrum and one child with ADHD.
They had purchased a Vivint Smart Home system just three weeks before the night Amanda woke up to her fire alarm at 3 a.m. Racing into the hall, Amanda saw the flames coming from her 11-year-old autistic son’s room, where he had lit a candle and put a blanket over it. In her panic to find her son and begin evacuating the home, she heard a voice come over the Vivint SkyControl panel and she called out to confirm that she needed Vivint to send help.
She had very little time to gather all the kids and get them out before the fire took over the house. Her husband and daughter were away that night, so she was glad that she had the help of Vivint in the emergency. The fire caused significant damage, including a collapsed floor in two of the bedrooms upstairs and a caved roof. But, thanks to their system and the great employees at Vivint, the family was safe.
